The Yoga of Knitting

I am the part of you who loves to create with yarn. I love the beautiful colors and textures....and weaving straw into gold. I am the one who likes to knit for charitable causes, and for friends and family and myself. I am the one who is soothed seeing hand made items in my enviroment.

I am the one who's in conscious meditation while knitting. I love hearing the click of the needles as I knit. I am one who's heart purrs in the meditation of knitting. I am the one who experiences the yoga of knitting... it's my Lighthouse.

I give your rest, relaxation...peace; and the satisfaction of creating beauty with colorful yarns and pleasing textures. I put you in touch with the joy of creating meditatively.

I want you to let me have my way more often...and do what I love so much. I want you to share with others the yoga of knitting. I want you to know that in doing so you will be giving to yourself beyond measure.

You will remember by keeping this card in view; by keeping your knitting needles and yarn stash nearby; by pulling out your knitting magazines, by remembering how good it feels to knit for charity...and by just letting my love of knitting...your love of knitting...run free. ~ Just let me knit Cheryl.

Inner-journaler

Each Soul-
Collage® card represents the Essence of an inner-facet of our multi-jeweled self. Below is my conversation with this "part" of me:

Who are you? - I am the part of you that feels centered and balanced when I write. I am the one who is exhilarated and enlightened at what comes through your writing. I am both the writer and the one who benefits from it. Writing is the way you listen to me...listen to yourself. Writing is the way you discover what you're thinking and feeling...long before it comes to your conscious mind. I am the part of you that knows journaling provides the yin and yang of knowlege, self-knowlege and revelation.

* I want you to spend more time with me. Let me express more often and more consistently. I want you to ritualize my writing time so it's free from distraction, and calming to the mind and soul. Do a few minutes of relaxed breathing and meditation before-hand; and then let me take center stage of your being. I promise you, the gift you receive from this will far exceed what you can imagine. The gift is... giving this time to yourself freely and regularly; making it a ritual. I want you to create a beautiful space for me to write. It need not be elaborate. Surround it with items that are meaningful to us. This way you will look forward to keeping your daily date with me. You'll see...it'll be worth it.

* I want you to keep my card on your altar, to remind you of the beauty and healing of journaling; and to remind you that I am here and need to be heard. This is how you will remember me, and invite more illumination into your being. This is by far the biggest gift for both of us. I love you. Remember me.

A little bit about me...

I am a free spirit & creative soul exploring my inner and outer worlds through creative, insightful activities and practices which allow me to know myself better and live from a deeper, richer, insightful and more joyous realm. ~ I am a mom, daughter, sister, friend, writer, artist, jewelry-maker, passionate resource for others, lover of life... and mindful knitter for the Mother Bear Project...(MBP) - and share the teddy bears I knit for children of the MBP at my blog, Yarn Jones.

I am a nature and animal lover, an avid reader and I am fascinated with learning and exploring what interests me! ~

Although words simply describe and are not "the thing itself", may the descriptions above and below offer a deeper glimpse of me at heart. ~ So, on that note, here goes! I am also a SoulCollage® Facilitator, taught personally by Seena Frost and the SoulCollage® mentors; certified in Soul Coaching®, taught and personally mentored by its creator: the luminous, immensely generous and beautiful spirit... Denise Linn.

My own inner-explorations have revealed that I love creating free-form mandalas! Over a period of 3+ years I created over 200. I was inspired to share them on my Mandala Oasis blog...as well as to create the Yahoo Community... which has brought together mandala enthusiasts from all over the world, each of us creating mandalas in our own unique way.

In 2008, I had the honor and pleasure of moderating an 8-week series of Mandala Webinars with the mandala process pioneer and luminary, the late Dr. Judith Cornell. I loved every bit of getting to know Judith as we worked together on that project... and was deeply saddened to learn of her passing. May her eternal soul rest... yet soar in love and peace.

Also, I am a Certified Empowerment Coach (via IPEC). I also trained in-person with Jill Badonsky to lead a variety of powerful creativity and expressive-art workshops known as "Muse Groups", and completed Jill's Kaizen-Muse Creativity Coaching training. I continue to reap the benefits of Jill's comprehensive, insightful and playful-yet-powerful work...to this day (even though I did opt-out of pursuing certification) I practice the principles, personally and in my work with others.

I've had the honor and delight of studying, working with and getting to know artist, teacher, art therapist and author Pat B. Allen. Her Studio (Pardes) Process of conscious intention-and image-making and witness writing have not only deepened my my creative process, but enhanced my life overall as well.

Most recently, (October 2012) I was introduced to Process Painting (aka Intuitive Painting). This painting process is opening my heart and soul like an ever-blooming flower. It's akin to my spontaneous, free-flow mandala process, which I call "Mandala Medicine"... but seemingly-deeper and different. Each modality of intuitive & spontaneous creativity is one is a unique gem of an experience for which I am immensely thankful.

It might be summed up by saying I'm passionate about and devoted to living Creativity as Spiritual Practice...& play...but that's just the tip of the iceberg!
